چکیده

Thirty-five consecutive patients with acute subendocardial infarction admitted to the coronary care unit during a 15-month period were identified and analyzed for location of infarction, and for the in-hospital course in terms of recurrent chest pain, the occurrence of a second infarction, and the clinical status at the end of hospitalization. Thirteen patients developed a transmural infarction sometime between 3 and 21 days (average, ten days) after the initial subendocardial infarction. The transmural infarction was defined by a separate episode of severe and

Low-Voltage Electrocardiogram in Acute Myocardial lnfarction*

In a restrospective study of 304 patients with acute transmural myocardial infarction admitted to the coronary care unit, 22 percent (67 patients) exhibited low voltage on their electrocardiograms within 72 hours of admission. The course of hospitalization of these patients was compared with an equal number of consecutive patients with transmural infarctions and normal electrocardiographic volt...

Acute subendocardial myocardial infarction in patients. Its detection by Technetium 99-m stannous pyrophosphate myocardial scintigrams.

Eighty-eight patients admitted to a coronary care unit with chest pain of varying etiology but without ECG evidence of an acute transmural myocardial infarction had myocardial scintigrams using technetium-99m stannour pyrophosphate (99m-Tc-PYP). Seventeen of these patients had ECG and enzymatic evidence suggestive of acute subendocardial myocardial infarction. In each of these the scintigrams w...

Strain rate imaging differentiates transmural from non-transmural myocardial infarction: a validation study using delayed-enhancement magnetic resonance imaging.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to determine if strain rate imaging (SRI) correlates with the transmural extent of myocardial infarction (MI) measured by contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (Ce-MRI). BACKGROUND Identification of the transmural extent of myocardial necrosis and degree of non-viability after acute MI is clinically important. METHODS Tissue Doppler echocardiograp...

Recovery of regional myocardial function and myocardial oedema following reperfused acute myocardial infarction

We investigated the relationship between myocardial oedema and recovery of regional myocardial function in patients with acute reperfused myocardial infarction (MI). Early after acute MI, oedema in the peri-infarct zone, as delineated by T2 weighted (T2w) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging, demonstrated significantly reduced strain as compared to remote myocardium. The recovery of ...

Estimation of myocardial involvement in patients with acute myocardial infarction by two-dimensional echocardiography.

To determine whether real-time two-dimensional echocardiography (2-D echo) can estimate the extent of myocardial involvement in patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI), regional wall motion on serial short-axis 2-D echo recordings was analyzed and the summed scores were compared with estimates of infarct involvement by thallium-201 reperfusion (Tl) and technetium-99m stannous pyrophospha...
